Nairobi, Kenya – March Forth Kenya Kids, a non-profit supporting Kenyan youth through arts and music, announced that world renowned painter Gilah Yelin Hirsch (www.gilah.com) will be the featured guest for Songambele Week 2014. The event, being held in Nairobi on August 11-17, will “give back“ to the community with various cultural activities planned for the locals including tree planting, an art workshop for young cancer patients, lectures and live music performances from local Kenyan bands. The Sankara Nairobi will be hosting an evening on 15th August to “meet the artist” along with live music from Michel Ongaro and the Senta Lain band. They will also be displaying some of Gilah’s original works on their 7th floor during Songambele Week.

“We are thrilled to have Gilah Yelin Hirsch as the special guest for Songambele Week 2014,” said Lynn Rossetto, president of March Forth Kenya Kids. “Her work focusing on art as a healing modality complements the mission of March Forth Kenya Kids.”

The highlight of Songambele Week 2014 will be Gilah’s community lecture on “Art and Healing” that will be held at the culmination of the week on Sunday August 17 from 3pm at the Go Down Arts Centre – Industrial Area. Her lecture will be preceded by live performances from the Radi Cultural Troupe and the students of March Forth Kenya Kids.
